Family Dentistry

At Sunrise Centre Dental we provide a variety of dental health services for the whole family.

Children’s Dentistry

We feel the experience that children have at the dentist when they are young sets them up as patients for the rest of their lives – from their initial ride in the chair to their first fillings – we want to ensure your child receives the best care we can provide. In some situations, this may involve a referral to a dentist that specializes in children’s care – we refer to offices that we would send our own children to!

Emergency Care

Most dental emergencies are seen the same day, contact 705-789-2369 to reserve an appointment. We are happy to care for all of your emergency dental care needs.

Restorations

We use only natural-looking, tooth-coloured composite resin materials – whether closing spaces in the front or replacing silver fillings on your back molars.

Crowns

Crowns are used to protect the visible part of the tooth in the mouth. They cover the entire tooth and are cemented to stay permanently. Teeth that have large fillings, or are root canal treated, require the extra protection of a crown. Crowns can be made of tooth coloured material (porcelain/ceramic) or a gold alloy.

Crown preparations require two appointments – one for tooth preparation and one for cementation; during the process there will be a temporary crown in place to hold the space and protect the prepared tooth.

Porcelain Onlays/Inlays

Onlays/Inlays are porcelain fillings that are permanently cemented to the tooth. Similar to a crown preparation sequence, two appointments are required – one for tooth preparation and one for cementation – during the process there will be a temporary placed to hold the space and protect the preparation.

Implants

Dental implants surgically placed into the jawbone become a “new root” where the tooth is missing. After the implant has integrated into the bone, an artificial, natural-looking tooth is attached to it. Dental implants are maintained with regular hygiene appointments just as your natural teeth are.

Teeth Removal – including Wisdom teeth

Most tooth removals can be done here in our office – including wisdom teeth. Sedation is an option; however, a consult may be required first to determine what option is best for your specific needs.

TMJ Concerns

Issues with your jaw joint may mimic many other conditions and can be difficult to diagnose. Common symptoms may include:

  • Neck and/or shoulder pain
  • Jaw popping and clicking with/without pain
  • Ear symptoms: including hearing loss, ringing or pain
  • Clenching/grinding your teeth during sleep
  • Chronic feeling of tiredness
  • Ongoing headaches at your temples or above your eyes

The team at Sunrise Centre Dental is happy to perform a comprehensive examination and recommend specific treatment options based on your symptoms and concerns – this may include a referral to another specialist.

Oral Health

Routine Hygiene Care

The Sunrise Centre Dental hygiene team will work to help you perfect your home care skills so you can maintain an optimum level of oral health at home.

Brushing at least two times a day and cleaning between your teeth every day is a necessary part of keeping your smile and your gums healthy and beautiful between visits to your dentist; it is most effective when combined with professional dental hygiene visits.

Our Team of dental hygienists at Sunrise Centre Dental will assess the health of your bone and gums, provide fluoride treatments when indicated, provide therapy to prevent and reverse gum disease, discuss your specific situation, and provide you with the knowledge of how to maintain your dental health for a lifetime.

Gum Therapy

Our professional team of dental hygienists and doctors will work with you to determine the care that best suits your health care needs. We routinely monitor your bone levels and gum tissue heights so we (and you) can be aware of any changes early. A schedule of routine maintenance appointments may be made closer together to specifically support your best dental health.

Gum disease does not happen over night and treatment and healing takes time as well, so treatment is spread out over time to allow for the best gum tissue response. In some instances, routine therapy is not sufficient to achieve health and additional procedures may be required.

Dental X-Rays

Sunrise Centre Dental has digital radiography to provide our patients with safer, less radiation and higher quality dental imaging. We have on site cutting-edge 3D, CBCT technology that enhances the predictability of dental procedures and can optimize surgical outcomes. By providing this technology in our dental office we can reduce travel requirements to out-of-town specialists.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Drs. John and Sharon Koncan offer a variety of cosmetic dentistry options. From whitening products – in office or take-home solutions – to full cosmetic-restorative dentistry solutions – crowns, bridges, veneers. We offer it all. Come and meet us to discuss what your cosmetic dentistry wishes, and needs are!

Veneers

Veneers are thin layers of ceramic material that is cemented onto the outside surface of the tooth to disguise discolouration’s and/or balance the size and shape of teeth.  They are a conservative way to change the colour/shape of your front teeth while removing only a thin layer of enamel.

Bridges

A bridge is a permanent way to “fill a gap” that exists where there is a missing tooth. It does not get removed and is cleaned as your natural teeth are cleaned. If you are missing or having difficulty because you are missing a tooth, ask us today if a bridge may be a solution for you!

Full Mouth Restorations

If you have severely worn your teeth, have dentures or are missing teeth and are noticing difficulty with chewing and speaking, Sunrise Centre Dental can help with full mouth restorative treatment. We have options available to support you to get your old smile back with teeth that look good, feel good and are set up to last a long time.
